I would like to learn how to make outdoor flower planters, and other landscaping decorations, using Basketweave concepts and materials. Do you know of an online course, or article, or supply company, that can help me? I don't have a preference whether the materials are genuine wood, or the new poly-plastic material... not sure which would be better. Thanks!!

My grandmother had planters made for on top of her deck and over the years the bottoms have started to rot out. She is planning to replace them with new planters. What can she do so that the wood doesn't rot and there is still drainage? When she had them made they put plastic on the inside and put holes in the bottom where the drainage holes were in the wood. I thought there should be some kind of membrane to put inside and maybe tubing in the holes? Any help would be appreciated.

I saw giant teacup (cup and saucer) china planters at Wahl Mart, but they only had one and other stores are out. I cannot find on the Internet except at stores in England and Australia. I need them for floral centerpieces for a kitchen shower in July.

I bought 2 wooden planters for my front garden. Now I need help deciding what plants to use. I want colour & interesting foliage but no higher than 3 feet max. Any ideas? Bearing in mind that I am in North East Scotland & we sometimes have really cold, wet weather.

We are buying a new house and since we'll be fixing up the inside we can't afford much in the way of landscaping this year. I would like to liven up the front porch though. I don't want to waste money and energy planting annuals that have to be re-done every year. What are some options for perennials that do well in planters? I just hate throwing away plants (and money) every year :-( Maybe I'll just do a few annuals in pots on the porch and some shrubs and perennials around the porch in front of the house.

Last summer I got the planters that go on the rails of the deck and they contain the coconut fiber inserts. I lost all my plants and herbs because the inserts wont hold water, it just runs out of the bottom. Any suggestions on how to hold the water in and still looks nice?

I can not start new plants or sprout seeds. The squirrels are always digging in my planters on my small patio. Can I keep them out... or is it hopeless?

I have dark brown stains on the concrete from the brown water coming out of the bottom of planters on my concrete patio. I tried my pressure washer and it barely touches it, in fact the pressure washer kind of eats away at the top layer of the concrete. I have tried all the different tips with no or very little success.
